Details
- At their university, candidates attend Naval Science classes—studying Naval history, engineering and weapons tactics
- The first two summers are spent learning the history, leadership, ethics and various missions of the Marine Corps and Navy
- During the third summer, candidates attend Officer Candidates School (OCS) in Quantico, VA
- The program covers many expenses, including tuition, books, fees and uniforms
- After college graduation and completion of the NROTC program, candidates receive their commission as a second lieutenant
Qualifications
To be eligible for the NROTC program, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Admission to an approved NROTC college or university
- U.S. citizen
- 17 years old by September 1 of the year starting college and younger than 23 years of age on June 30 of that year, though exceptions may be considered
- High school diploma or an equivalency certificate (GED) by August 1 of the same year of expected entrance into the NROTC Scholarship Program
