One is being a platoon commander for approximately 60 Marines and the other is using those 60 Marines to accomplish a mission of providing safety and security to the installation here at Camp Pendleton. <br /> <br /> If I´m gonna dedicate my life to something, I wanted something significant and important. And I found the Marine Corps to be the most important thing I could find. If I had to talk to someone who wanted to join the Marine Corps and specifically focus on military police operations, I would say that they would want to be very sure that they would like to do both the field side of the house and deploy, go to countries like Iraq and Afghanistan, and to do the missions that are needed there, as well as stay on base and to provide safety and security in the garrison environment.<br /> <hr /><h2>The M9 Pistol</h2><hr /> </p> </span>

Military Police Officers provide essential support to their commanding officers with all facets of law enforcement. Officers begin this MOS either on-base, providing security and law enforcement, or on deployment, supervising maneuver and mobility operations and internment operations, as well as providing area security and law enforcement.

Beyond Your First Tour

After your first tour, you may be assigned to a billet available to all officers, such as recruiting duty, instructor duty at The Basic School or series commander at one of the Marine Corps Recruit Depots. Later in your career, you may be assigned to Expeditionary Warfare School or Command and Control Systems Course, or seek an advanced degree. This pattern of assignment is designed to expand your knowledge of the Marine Corps and overall strategic operations before you take on increased responsibility within your MOS.

As a Military Police Officer, you may attend law enforcement courses and schools. During your second tour, you may be assigned to Inspector-Instructor Staff for Marine Corps Reserve Military Police units among many other roles.
