Areas Of Specialty

During training in The Basic School (TBS), you will submit your preferred choice of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

MOSs are awarded on merit, and the specific needs of the Marine Corps. Most officers will get one of their top five choices. The primary areas of specialization include Ground and Aviation.

Entry-level MOS schools range in duration anywhere from six-weeks to 16 months. After successful completion of TBS, the first standard assignments will be in the operating forces.

The varied nature of these assignments helps produce well-rounded Marine Corps Officers with the opportunity to lead in many different areas.
